Ballinacurra GAA marked a proud and historic milestone with the unveiling of a Centenary Plaque, commemorating 100 years of the club’s contribution to the GAA and to the wider community.
The plaque was officially unveiled by Uachtarán an Chumainn Lúthchleas Gael, Jarlath Burns, an honour that highlighted the significance of the occasion for the club, parish and county. The ceremony brought together past and present members to reflect on a century of sporting achievement, dedication and community spirit.
Among those in attendance were members of the East Cork Board, Cork County Board Chairman Pat Horgan, and relatives of P.N. Fitzgerald, whose contribution to the club’s history was acknowledged during proceedings. Their presence added to the sense of pride and tradition that characterised the event.
Speakers paid tribute to the many players, officers, mentors and volunteers who have shaped Ballinacurra GAA since its foundation, noting the club’s enduring role at the heart of parish life over the past century.
The unveiling formed part of the club’s centenary celebrations and served both as a tribute to those who went before and as an inspiration for future generations to continue the proud Ballinacurra GAA tradition.
